about

San Francisco based duo Seventeen Evergreen reflect the west coast spirit of five decades of Psychedelia and its many flavors on the spectrum between pop and experimentation. After flirtations with other locales over the last few years, the pair can’t stay away from the foggy but tumultuous city on the edge of the world they call home. Caleb Pate and Nephi Evans, both singers, producers and multi-instrumentalists also spend time DJ’ing and working on their respective solo projects. Every new SE recording seems to be an unintentional reinvention rebelling from their previous flights of fancy.

In the last eight years, they have crafted a number of releases on UK label Lucky Number Music and their own Pacific Radio Fire imprint. The limited-edition Epiphanie Solaire is their latest EP and first on Spiritual Pajamas.

2012 full length album, “Steady On, Scientist” boasted not just 1 but 4 or 5 radio-ready, space age pop anthems that marry the pair’s embrace of new pop music and tranced out, mind expanders. Often cited for their strong video work, this record was no exception including the now classic, philosophical, yarn bombing, technicolour masterpiece “Polarity Song”, directed by Terry Timely, which had over 100K views in its first weekend and earned widespread media and fan praise alike.

The band has garnered a following in Europe and has appeared on Rob Da Bank’s BBC Radio 1 show, BBC 6 Music and XFM and played various festivals in the UK including End Of The Road Festival and First City Festival in California. Tom Ravenscroft debuted several of the new tracks ahead of release on his Friday night BBC 6 Music show.

** “White kids listen up.. a cum diamond about to make you see god.. this is a solar album for sure.. fast and sad.. but with the beauty of a sinking sun.. Nephi and Caleb of Seventeen Evergreen have made something epiphonic..”
~Dr. Diamond Breath

** “Epiphanie Solaire.. like the Chilean observatory on the cover {ALMA} brings us the stars.. Song constellations that culminate with a better version of Captain Beefheart’s ‘Observatory Crest’..”
~John Dylan, Professor of Magic, John Wayne University

** “ Basking in the golden hour of the sun.. dream pop me.. desert rock me.. ignite me and all my fun.. let this album soothe you.. and be of taste.. sounding better in French.. tasting better at brunch..”
~BourgieGangster

** “ While the city was busy we wanted to rest. She decided to drive up to observatory crest. We’d just saw a concert and heard all the best. We went on a ride, we got outside. The sand was hot, she wanted to dance.”
~Captain Beefheart

** “Give me my ALMA.. my sinking sun.. give me my apocalypse.. give me my epiphanie solaire..”
~Chilean Prophecy
